EAU CLAIRE -- Erik P. Rotvold has been named acting service-learning coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, effective Aug. 25. Rotvold, who has been a residence hall director at UW-Eau Claire since 1992, will take over for Lisa Lunghofer, who resigned from the position this month because her husband could not find a job in the area. Service-learning combines community service with intentional learning goals, reflection and critical analysis, and Rotvold will coordinate the academic experience for undergraduates at UW-Eau Claire during the coming year. Chancellor Larry Schnack appointed Rotvold, who holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bethel College, St. Paul, Minn., and a master's degree in counseling and student personnel from Mankato State (Minn.) University. He previously worked as an assistant complex director in the housing office at Mankato State before joining UW-Eau Claire's Housing and Residence Life staff in 1992. His committee experience includes teaching residence assistants, training hall directors, and serving as chairman of the Housing and Residence Life Service-Learning Committee. Associate Dean of Students Mary Ryan-Miller said a search and screen process will be conducted during the coming year to fill the position on a permanent basis by July 1, 1998. -30- JW
