EAU CLAIRE -- As a result of action by the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents June 6, UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Larry Schnack has announced promotions in rank and tenure for 30 faculty members. Thirteen academic staff members were also granted promotions or indefinite status. The changes are effective July 1.
Faculty promoted to professor were Andrew Balas, mathematics; Scott Hartsel, chemistry; Robert Hooper, geology; Paul Kosower, music and theatre arts; Thomas Lockhart, physics and astronomy; Karen Loeb, English; Blaine Peden, psychology; Joseph Rohrer, biology; Nicholas Smiar, social work; Lloyd Turtinen, biology; Paul Vanderheiden, accounting and finance; James Walker, mathematics; and CeCelia Zorn, nursing systems. Gary Schwartzhoff, music and theatre arts, was promoted to associate professor. Promoted to assistant professor were Karen Pope, library services; and Anna Alexander-Doelle, family health nursing.
Granted tenure and promoted to associate professor was Su-Jane Chen, accounting and finance; Gregory Conderman, special education; Kathryn Dobie, management and marketing; Carolyn Hopp, mathematics; Karen Kremer, communication/journalism; Jan Larson, communication/journalism; Susan Peck, adult health nursing; Charles Tomkovick, management and marketing; John Ullmann, communication/journalism; and Thao Yang, chemistry. Nobuyoshi Yasuda, music and theatre arts, was granted tenure and promoted to assistant professor.
Tenure was granted to Randall Beger, associate professor of sociology and anthropology; Helen Dale, associate professor of English; and Mimi King, assistant professor, library services.
The following academic staff received promotions: Jeannie Harms to senior student services coordinator, advising and academic testing; Carol Hale to senior lecturer, English; Karen Welch to senior lecturer, English; and Thomas Peck to senior residence hall manager, Housing and Residence Life.
Granted a title change and promotion were Art Lyons, from instructional program manager I to senior student services coordinator, Academic Skills Center; Linda Spaeth, from instructional manager I to senior student services coordinator, Academic Skills Center; and Patricia Stoffers, from instructional manager I to senior student services coordinator, Academic Skills Center.
Ann Hoffman was granted indefinite status and promoted to senior editor in the News Bureau. Patti See was granted a title change from instructional program manager I to student services coordinator, Academic Skills Center.
Indefinite status was granted to Mari Jo Janke, Publications; John Lee, Media Development Center; Robert Lieske, School of Nursing; and Katherine Schneider, Counseling Services.
