EAU CLAIRE -- During the eight-week summer session, the Phillips parking lot at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will be reserved for faculty, staff, orientation and workshop visitors, and 75 students based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Traffic controllers will monitor vehicles between 7 and 9:30 a.m., and will only allow those with permits to park in the Phillips lot, said Gary Bartlett, manager of Parking and Transportation Services.
The Hibbard parking lot also will be monitored from 7 to 9 a.m. and will only allow those with faculty, staff or visitor permits.
Students are encouraged to park in the Water Street and Fine Arts parking lots, Bartlett said. Those lots are open and students won't need permits to park there.
The main reason for controlling access on campus this summer is the construction on State Street.
"We don't want orientation, workshop and other campus visitors to have to figure out how to get to Water Street (to find parking)," Bartlett said.
These restrictions will remain for the eight-week summer session, which began June 16 and ends Aug. 8.
