EAU CLAIRE -- Sonia Chadha, a 1996 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, has received a fellowship to study medicine this fall. Chadha, Eau Claire, is the recipient of a $3,000 Alice Crocker Lloyd Fellowship for the 1997-98 academic year. The award is presented by the Alpha Lambda Delta, an academic honor society for freshmen. The fellowship is one of 16 awarded annually by Alpha Lambda Delta to members for graduate study. Members can apply for the fellowships during their senior years or after receiving their undergraduate degrees, so long as they have maintained Alpha Lambda Delta initiation standards throughout their college careers. The award is named for Alice Lloyd, a leader in the field of women's education, and a leader in the National Association for Women Deans, Administrators and Counselors. Also she was a member of the National Council of Alpha Lambda Delta. There were 151 applicants for the fellowships, with members from 86 of the society's 215 chapters applying. -30- JB
