EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Summer Theatre's 33rd season will feature two shows tailored specifically for the family. "A Grand Night for Singing" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. June 12-14, 18-21 and 24-28. A matinee performance will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 22. This musical revue will feature the best songs of Rogers and Hammerstein from shows such as "Oklahoma!," "Carousel," "The Sound of Music" and "State Fair." This show promises the best singers the university and community have to offer, and is appropriate for audiences of all ages. "The Wizard of Oz," by L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. July 8-12 and 15-19. A matinee performance will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13. This version of the show features the music and characters from the original MGM film including: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Ding Dong, The Witch is Dead," and " If I Were King of the Forest." The show is appropriate for children and adults. All summer theater performances will be held in Kjer Theatre on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Season coupon books, with tickets for both shows, are available. Coupon book prices are $16 for adults, $14 for non-UW-Eau Claire students or senior citizens, or $12 with a UW-Eau Claire summer ID. Single tickets are $9 for adults, $8 for non-UW-Eau Claire students or senior citizens, or $7 with a UW-Eau Claire summer ID.
