MAILED: April 9, 1997 EAU CLAIRE - The Academic Advising and Career Services office at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will sponsor "Self Assessment Workshops: Using Your Compass" April 21 and 24. The workshops are designed for students who don't want to participate in a long-term workshop but are interested in self-assessment. The first workshop, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 21, in room 226 of Schofield Hall, will use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The workshop will explain personality preference assessment and discuss how Type can be used to help in major and career decisions. The cost is $5. The second workshop, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in room 226 of Schofield Hall, will offer a discussion of the Strong Interest Inventory. This one session workshop will explain the results of the inventory and scores will be examined in terms of the students' strength of interest in several general fields and compared to people in a wide range of occupations. The cost is $7. Students should call the Testing Office at (715) 836-5522 at least four days before the workshop to make an appointment to take the inventory test. Workshops are open to all students, but enrollment is limited. For additional information, call the Academic Advising and Career Services office at (715) 836-5359.
