EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association will again host the annual Alumni Day to honor the classes of 1917-1947 and emeriti faculty. The day is scheduled for Saturday, May 17.
"Alumni Day will provide opportunities for alumni to celebrate fond memories of their years at UW-Eau Claire," said Denise Pedersen, director of the Alumni Association.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Skylight Lounge of Davies Center. Coffee and refreshments will be available.
Following registration, visitors are invited to participate in one of four campus tours. One tour will take alumni on a walking tour of campus. This tour will be led by a UW-Eau Claire student ambassador. The second tour option will feature Dr. George Stecher, assistant professor of physics and astronomy. Dr. Stecher will give a presentation titled "Through the Eyes of Hubble," which will focus on the scientific discoveries of the Hubble Space Telescope. A third tour option will feature a walk through Putnam Park. Visitors will join Dr. Marcus Fay, professor emeritus, to explore the flora and fauna of UW-Eau Claire's backyard. A tour of the university's greenhouse is the fourth tour option. Walter Schaffer, biology department laboratory manager, will lead the tour of the greenhouse, located on the roof of Phillips Science Hall. All tour groups will assemble at 10 a.m. in the Skylight Lounge in Davies Center.
The Golden Blugold Ceremony hosted by Chancellor Larry Schnack will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Davies Theatre. Members of the class of 1947 will be welcomed into the Golden Blugold Club as they celebrate their 50-year class reunion. Guests are welcome at the ceremony, particularly members of the classes of 1917-1946. The Chancellor's Luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. Alumni and guests are welcome to attend this complimentary luncheon for Golden Blugolds and emeriti faculty.
