EAU CLAIRE -- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 17. All events are free and open to the public.

TUESDAY, MARCH 18:

Karen Decker, a junior music major from Afton, Minn., will present a student cello recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Decker will perform pieces by Sergei Prodofiev, Paul Hindemith and Edward Elgar.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19:

Erika Svanoe, a senior music major from Whitewater, will present a student clarinet recital at 5 p.m. in the Phillips Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Svanoe will perform pieces by Gabriel Pierne, Oliver Messian, Fancis Poulenc, Johannes Brahms and Simmons/Marks with arrangement by Svanoe. She will be accompanied by Ann Gilbertson on piano and assisted by Terri Jo Songer, Karen Melby, Samantha Pittenger and Becky Campbell on clarinets.

THURSDAY, MARCH 20:

Samantha Pittenger, a freshman music major from White Bear Lake, Minn., and Karen Melby, a sophomore music major from Richland Center, will perform a joint student clarinet recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center. Pittenger will perform pieces by Gerald Finzi with Leland Kearney on piano, Johannes Brahms, C. Saint-Saens and George Gershwin. She will be accompanied by Nick Poss on piano. Melby will perform pieces by G. F. Handel, C. M. von Weber, Robert Schumann and Igor Stravinsky. She will be accompanied by Amber Dahlen on piano.
