EAU CLAIRE - The Arts and Sciences Continuing Education office at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will sponsor the 19th annual Summer Institute sessions for children ages 6-16.
Session one will be held from June 9-19 at UW-Eau Claire and session two from June 30-July 9 at the Park View Elementary and Chippewa Falls High School in Chippewa Falls.
Class options include computers and technology, math, Spanish and French, geology, theater, ceramics, illustrating, writing, biology, history, social and cultural studies, folk toys, chemistry, video production and orienteering. Sixty-one classes will be offered. Classes meet for 16 hours Monday through Thursday for the two-week period.
Class instructors are selected from Eau Claire, surrounding communities, UW-Eau Claire, and public and private schools.
The program is designed to give students an opportunity to explore new areas while having hands-on experience. Children and parents select classes based on the child's interests, capabilities and motivational level.
Tuition for the Summer Institute is $50 and a $10 material fee for most of the classes. A supervised lunch period will be offered to students involved in the morning and afternoon classes for a nominal fee. The registration deadline is two weeks before classes begin.
