MAILED: arch 14, 1997 EAU CLAIRE -The International Perspectives lecture series presents Alexandra Mulatu, a visiting international lecturer, on Tuesday, March 18. Mulatu will speak about the International Youth Camp at Dachau from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in room 100 of Hibbard Hall. The lecture series is sponsored by the Center for Educational Renewal and Reform, the Office of University Research and the UW-Eau Claire special education department. Mulatu will speak about the Youth Encounter Tent Camp which offers youth and young adults from around the world the chance to study and learn from history. The program combines lessons with face-to-face contact with survivors from the concentration camps as well as with individuals active in the resistance. During the program, people from different backgrounds get to know each other, learn about each other's cultures, and through workshops and projects discuss and debate solutions to historical and present problems. The lecture is free and open to the public and is appropriate for children and adults. For more information about this lecture or the International Perspectives lecture series, contact Dr. Bonnie McCarty in the special education department at (715) 836-5184.
