EAU CLAIRE -- The Indianhead Honor Band and Wind Clinic will present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dr. Todd Fiegel, director of university bands, will conduct the Indianhead Honor Band, which comprises more than 80 high school students from 29 high schools in the western Wisconsin region. Students participating in the event are accepted by taped audition. They will rehearse for about five hours during the day, Saturday, and then give the concert that evening. The repertoire will include "His Honor" by Henry Fillmore, "Allerseelen" by Richard Strauss, and "Symphony No. 1, In Memoriam Dresden" by Daniel Bukvich. Students will also can work twice during the day with UW-Eau Claire music professors who teach their specific instruments. The faculty include: Dr. Tim Lane, flute; Ivar Lunde, Jr., oboe; Dr. Richard Fletcher, clarinet and saxophone; Robert Baca, trumpet; Rodney Hudson, trombone; Dr. Jerry Young, euphonium and tuba; and Ronald Keezer, percussion. The Indianhead Honor Band and Wind Clinic is hosted by the wind and percussion division of the UW-Eau Claire department of music and theatre arts. Admission is $5 for the entire day's activities or $4 for the concert. Tickets are available in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center.
