EAU CLAIRE -- Puppet Government will perform three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire March 6-8. The Milwaukee-based music-and-comedy duo will begin its shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center. Refreshments will be sold. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, singer-songwriters Blue and Coventry Jones formed Puppet Government in 1991. The duo launches a national tour of universities and clubs this spring in support of their upcoming full-length CD. "Puppet Government is about storytelling using elements of music, theater and comedy," Blue has said. "We relate to an audience by introducing interesting scenarios and bantering back and forth between each other and the audience. I guess you could categorize our music and alternative acoustic." Puppet Government's songs are short stories that utilize stage antics, props, role playing and jokes. It's most recent recording comments on the chaotic political climate of an election year with the song "I'd Like to Be President," about the wrong man getting into the Oval Office. The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. -30- UW-Eau Claire News Bureau Schofield 218 (715) 836-4741 newsbur@uwec.edu Updated: April 24, 1997 |
