EAU CLAIRE - A number of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students will perform in the upcoming department of music and theatre arts production of "Cosi fan Tutte."
The opera, with libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte and music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is about a wager between friends on the emotion of love. Dr. Robert Knight, associate professor of music and theatre arts at UW-Eau Claire, wrote the English translation.
The opera, directed by Knight, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 26-March 1, and at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center at UW-Eau Claire.
The following students will perform:
Karen Wridt, a sophomore music major from Racine, and Jennifer Young, a senior music education major from Racine, will play Fiordiligi.
Annelies Slack, a senior music major from Park Falls, and Kathleen E. Collins, a senior music major from Madison, will play Dorabella.
Aaron Grant, a junior music major from La Crosse, and Jason Melik, a junior music major from Racine, will play Guglielmo.
Jesse Luoma, a junior music major from Marengo, and Gerald Bradshaw, Jr., a senior music major from Ladysmith, will play Ferrando.
Heather Broadwater, a junior music major from Winona, Minn., and Deborah Petras, a senior music major from Green Bay, will play Despina.
Jake Schrandt, a sophomore music major from Winona, Minn., and Justus Smith, a freshman music major from Racine, will play Don Alfonso.
The following students will play various roles in the chorus:

Mark Hellmann, freshman music major from Boyceville.

William F. Mellien, professor of music and theatre arts, is the scenic and lighting designer.
Ann Behrens is the costume designer for the show
Nobuyoshi Yasuda, instructor in the department of music and theatre arts, is the conductor.
Michelle Slade, a senior theatre arts major from White Bear Lake, Minn., is the makeup designer for the show.
Jamie Andrews, a senior music major from Eau Claire, is the assistant conductor for the show.
Jim Peliwo, sophomore computer science major from Adams, is the stage manager for the show.
Rachael Brost, sophomore political science major from Mc Farland, is the rehearsal accompanist for the show.
Tickets for "Cosi fan Tutte" are $7 for the general public, $5 for senior citizens and children under 18, or $4 with a UW-Eau Claire ID. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727.
