More than 2,000 patrons are expected to attend the ball April 11 and 12 for an evening of dining, dancing and music in Davies Center. In 1988, the Viennese Ball was documented by the Vienna Tourist Board as the largest in the world outside Austria.

Organized by a committee of university staff, students and community members, the event helps provide music scholarships and international study awards. The committee hopes to realize $22,000 for scholarships from ticket sales and donations.
During its 22-year run, the Viennese Ball has provided more than $331,000 for music scholarships and international study awards, and more than $138,000 has been directed to student musicians and student production staff who lend their talents to present the ball, coordinator Ada Bors said. To date, $469,000 in support of students has been provided, she said.
