EAU CLAIRE - William Bennett, one of the foremost flutists performing today, will present a guest flute recital 8 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Phillips Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire. Bennett will perform pieces by J. S. Bach, Ferninand Reis, Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn, Jules Mouquet, Clifford Benson and Jules Auguste Demersseman. He will be accompanied by Cifford Benson on piano. Bennett's accomplishments include having held principal positions with the BBC Northern Orchestra, the Sadler Wells Opera Co., the London Symphony and Royal Philharmonic, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields and the English Chamber Orchestra. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1995 by the Queen of England for his services to music. Tickets are $10 and are available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727.
