 MAILED:  Dec. 16, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present Cabaret XXVII, "Road Trip," sponsored by the department of music and theatre arts and University Centers and Programs, in January 2005.

Cabaret performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 20-22 and 27-29, with matinees at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 and 29. All shows will be in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

Music from a wide variety of musical groups and artists — Chicago, Dixie Chicks, Marvin Gaye, Bon Jovi, Manhattan Transfer and other artists from across the nation — will be featured in a show that will offer something to delight all ages.

A 10-month project with an operating budget of $18,000, Cabaret has raised nearly $200,000 in scholarships for music students.

Several UW-Eau Claire music ensembles will perform, including Cabaret Orchestra, Concert Choir I and II, The Singing Statesmen and Women's Concert Chorale.

Nine student directors select the music, arrange the score and prepare the music with their ensembles. Student directors for Concert Choir I are senior Terra Stefansky, Waukesha, and junior Mark Lundin, Blaine, Minn. Concert Choir II directors are senior Jane Schutt, Marinette, and sophomore Max Athorn, Minneapolis, Minn. The directors of the Singing Statesmen are sophomore Alex Krukowski, Waconia, Minn., and senior Josh Andrew, Eau Claire; the directors of Women's Concert Chorale are senior Sarah Norvold, Eau Claire, junior Christy Rodriguez, Burlington, and sophomore Mindy Earp, Eagan, Minn.

In addition to the shows, optional buffet dinners will be served before the evening performances at 6 p.m. in the Dulany Inn of the Davies Center. Advance reservations are required. A deli and dessert cash buffet will be available in the Council Fire Room starting at 6:30 p.m. for evening shows and at 1 p.m. for matinee performances. The buffet also will be available during intermission for all performances. A cash bar will open at 5:30 p.m. for evening performances, at 1 p.m. for matinee performances and during intermission for all performances.
