UW-Eau Claire Staff Member Receives
Grant for Professional Development

 MAILED:  Dec. 16, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — Carol Accola, manager of computing assisting and training staff in Computing and Networking Services at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, was recently awarded a Ryland Fellowship for 2005 in the amount of $1,000 through the EDUCAUSE grant program.

The EDUCAUSE grant program was established to expand opportunities for information technology professionals to attend EDUCAUSE educational events. Fellowships recognize a combination of past achievement, personal and institutional commitment, potential benefit and financial need.

Awards for this program are made on an annual basis, in amounts that will substantially or fully meet the costs of attending one EDUCAUSE educational event that aligns with the professional needs of the applicant and the strategic direction of his or her institution. The grantor recommended that Accola use the fellowship to attend the EDUCAUSE Institute Management Program to be held July 10-14 in Boulder, Colo.

"I am looking forward to meeting and learning with information technology professionals from around the nation," Accola said. "This is a unique opportunity to bring best practices back to the University, as well as support my professional development. It's quite an honor."

The EDUCAUSE fellowship program bears the name of Jane N. Ryland, president of CAUSE from 1986 to 1998. Ryland recognized the importance of educational programs to support and develop information technology professionals throughout higher education.
