UW-Eau Claire Designers Win
Four Awards in Graphics Competition

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire staff and student designers received four awards in the graphics competition at the Association of College Unions International regional conference, held Nov. 12-14 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In the staff division, first place was awarded to Gretchen Dillenbeck for a brochure she designed to inform students about the university's six meal plans. Her booklet for the 2004-05 season of The Forum and Artists Series received honorable mention. From La Crosse , Dillenbeck received her bachelor of arts degree in graphic design from UW-Eau Claire in May 2004. She is now marketing manager at Digigraphics/Photos Inc. in Minneapolis.

Also in the staff division, Paula Lucas, Becker, Minn., received an honorable mention award for her promotional campaign for University Printing Services. Lucas graduated from UW-Eau Claire in May 2003, with a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design. She is currently an electronic production artist for Target in Minneapolis.

In the student division, a poster designed by Josh Olk, Appleton, for the International Film Society presentation of "8 Women" received an honorable mention award. A May 2004 bachelor of fine arts graduate of UW-Eau Claire, Olk currently designs packaging for Directions Inc. in Neenah.

The publications were designed for University Centers and Programs, a Student Services unit of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, under the direction of information design program manager Juelie Sires.

The Association of College Unions International supports its members in the development of community through education, advocacy and the delivery of services. ACUI Region 8 is comprised of colleges and universities throughout Wisconsin, the upper peninsula of Michigan and the Chicago metropolitan area.
