Adam Pettke and Aaron Olson Named
UW System Student Ambassadors

 MAILED:  Nov. 17, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students Aaron Olson, a junior political science major from Menomonie, and Adam Pettke, a senior political science major from Sussex, are two of more than 30 students named by UW System chancellors as UW System Student Ambassadors. The systemwide student advisory council is a group of students who assist university leaders and offer unique perspectives from a student viewpoint.

By taking part in special projects and events at a system level, the Student Ambassadors help keep the UW System connected with students on campus, said Linda Weimer, UW System vice president for University Relations.

Since 2000, UW System Student Ambassadors have helped host UW System events; assisted the Board of Regents in sharing the importance of higher education with citizens of the state and elected leaders; provided counsel to the president and system officers, and worked closely with the student member of the Board of Regents and the United Council of UW Students.

The students also provide input, assistance and feedback on projects and special events, such as the UW Day at the State Fair. Because they are informed about systemwide issues that may affect their home campuses, Student Ambassadors can also be an important resource for their student colleagues on the various campuses.

"I am happy to have the opportunity to represent the students of Eau Claire in the UW system," said Pettke.
