UW-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir
To Perform Mozart's Final Work

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Symphonic Choir, under the direction of Dr. Alan Rieck, assistant professor of music and theatre arts, will present a fall concert at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The choir and the University Orchestra, under the direction of Nobuyoshi Yasuda, assistant professor of music, will perform Mozart's Requiem. K. 626, the great composer's final work. The contemporary fame of this piece was promoted through the fictitious account of its composition as told in the movie "Amadeus." Mozart died at the age of 35, prior to the completion of the work, which was ultimately finished by his student Franz Xaver Süssmayr.

"Tuba Mirum" and "Recordare" are two sections of the piece that will feature a faculty quartet: Dr. Mitra Sadeghpour, assistant professor of music, singing soprano; Dr. Kathryn Proctor Duax, professor of music, singing mezzo-soprano; Dr. Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, singing tenor; and Dr. Robert Knight, professor of music, singing baritone.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center , (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
