UW-Eau Claire Women's Chorus
To Present Fall Concert Nov. 22

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, will present a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The program will open with songs by Alice Parker, including "Poor Little Bessie," a turn of the century temperance song; "Gabriel's Message," featuring vocal soloist Darci Halverson, a freshman from Menomonie, and Victoria Gottsacker, a freshman from Sheboygan, on the tamborine; and Parker's arrangement of the American Shaker hymn "'Tis a Gift to Be Simple."

The concert will continue with a section featuring songs of reverence, with works by Baldassare Galuppi, Gabriel Fauré, J.S. Bach and Z. Randall Stroope, and a final section featuring songs of love by James Mulholland, Gwyneth Walker, and others. The program will conclude with the Southern folksong " Sourwood Mountain ," arranged by Shirley W. McRae, featuring a flute solo by freshman Emily Parrish, Rochester , Minn.

Senior Maggie Hartzheim, Green Bay , will provide piano accompaniment for the concert.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center , (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4 for the general public; $3 for those 62 and older and children 17 and younger; and free for faculty, staff and students with a university ID.
