EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's tenth annual Tunnel of Oppression will take place Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 3-5. The nationally recognized program will offer free 45-minute tours from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
Making Our School an Intercultural Community sponsors the interactive program to raise awareness and educate people about the different types of oppression found in today's society. Participants will be guided through settings aimed at issues of ethnic racism, sexism, homophobia and religious intolerance.
"MOSAIC invites anyone who is ready to challenge themselves to come and see what the tunnel has to offer," said MOSAIC's publicity coordinator Elizabeth Welle.
The event is open to the public and all are encouraged to tour the tunnel. New tours will start every 20 minutes. Afterwards, participants can discuss the feelings and thoughts provoked by the experience in a debriefing room.
MOSAIC is a Housing and Residence Life task force devoted to diversity education at UW-Eau Claire and in the Eau Claire community.
