Singer-Songwriter Matt Wahl
To Perform at UW-Eau Claire Nov. 5

 MAILED:  Oct. 28, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — Singer-songwriter Matt Wahl will perform in concert Friday, Nov. 5, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. His free show in The Cabin of Davies Center will begin at 8 p.m.

Wahl spent three years in an office cubicle before giving up the corporate life for the open road. Living his dream of touring and playing music full time, Wahl has created a down-to-earth, light-hearted acoustic rock-folk sound that appeals to any age. Drawing from such artists as Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin and Jimmy Buffet, he mixes lyrically meaningful original songs with fun cover tunes, singing and playing acoustic guitar and harmonica.

Matt Wahl was raised in Eau Claire in a house full of music. He started writing songs in high school and college, and by his sophomore year at the University of Minnesota he started performing at open mics in and around Minneapolis. He changed his major from economics/pre-law to theater and started acting in university productions. By his junior year he had played his first solo gig and was hooked on music.

Wahl tours throughout the Midwest, playing between 150 and 200 shows a year and winning fans with his deep baritone voice and upbeat, insightful and original songs. His CDs include " Open Road" (2001) and "Endless Summer" (2003).

The show is open to all ages. Soda, domestic and imported beer and popcorn will be sold; proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
