UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team
Travels to Iowa Tournament

EAU CLAIRE — Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team attended the Oct. 23 Mid America Forensics League Tournament #3 held on the Wartburg College campus in Waverly, Iowa.

The UW-Eau Claire team placed fourth overall and broke seven of their four events to finals.

"This was a pretty impressive outcome for the small entry," said Karen Morris, director of forensics.

Individual results are as follows:

Senior Chris Conklin, Green Bay, placed first in extemporaneous speaking and impromptu speaking.

Sophomore Christine Zani, Hurley, placed second in communication analysis and sixth in extemporaneous speaking, qualifying her for the National Forensics Association tournament.

Sophomore Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, placed third in informative speaking, fifth in communication analysis and sixth in impromptu speaking.

The UW-Eau Claire forensics team will travel to River Falls next for the Southeast Metro Fringe Tournament. The team is also gearing up for the L.E. Norton Memorial Invitational, a major tournament to be held at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
