With one week to go in the Presidential race, voter turnout is being viewed by both political parties as one of the potential keys to winning. There also is some evidence suggesting younger voters are more engaged in this campaign than any in several decades and could be a deciding factor in a tightly contested election.
Communication and journalism and political science students and faculty from UW-Eau Claire and four other UW System campuses will participate in a distance communication program Tuesday, Oct. 26, examining what the media are doing (or not doing) to stimulate interest and turnout among younger voters — and what impact the efforts may have on the Nov. 2 election.
The program will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Old Library 1132 on the UW-Eau Claire campus. For more information, contact Jack Kapfer, assistant professor, communication and journalism, (715) 836-2300.
