UW-Eau Claire to Host Listening Sessions
Relating to Diversity Issues

 MAILED:  Oct. 25, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Diversity Planning Committee will sponsor listening sessions, providing opportunities for campus and community members to discuss diversity issues.

The sessions are slated for 5 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Presidents Room of Davies Center on lower campus and 7:30 a.m. Nov. 10 in the Eagle Room of Davies Center.

The goal of the sessions is to learn more about how UW-Eau Claire can support diversity on campus and in the Eau Claire community, and to learn how the community might partner with the campus in welcoming diverse students to the Eau Claire area.

The UW-Eau Claire Diversity Planning Committee — composed of faculty, academic staff, classified staff and students — was created to address issues of difference related to identity and culture, such as race, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion and ability.

The committee examines challenges related to differences that impact areas such as access to education, employment, economic development and social justice. It seeks to further a commitment to providing educational opportunities to under-served populations while helping all UW-Eau Claire students, faculty, and academic and classified staffs realize the benefits of enhanced learning and development that occur in a diverse learning environment.

For details about the listening questions or the diversity committee, contact Kimberly Barrett, associate vice chancellor of student development and diversity, at (715) 836-5992 or
