EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Oct. 25. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, Oct. 25:
- The UW-Eau Claire marching band, directed by Randal Dickerson, associate professor of music and theatre arts, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The program will begin with traditional songs, including "Liberty Fanfare" by John Williams, "Four in One," arranged by Dickerson, "Legend of the One-Eyed Sailor" by Chuck Mangione and the Blugold Fight Song. The second half of the program will feature pieces by James Brown, including "Gimme Some More," "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," "It's a Man's World," "Georgia on My Mind," "I Got You" and "Livin' in America."
Sunday, Oct. 31:
- There will be a joint faculty recital titled "Songs and Readings that go Bump in the Night" at 2 p.m.in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center The concert will feature soprano Mitra Sadeghpour, assistant professor of music and theatre arts; mezzo-soprano Kathryn Proctor Duax, professor of music; tenor Daniel Newman, associate professor of music; pianist Barbara Wimunc-Pearson, professor of music; and pianist Barbara Young, lecturer of music and theatre arts. Terry Allen, professor of theatre arts, will perform a dramatic reading. The program will begin with "Erlkönig" by Franz Schubert and continue with pieces by Gustav Mahler, Camille Saint-Saens, Ferruccio Busoni, Francis Poulenc, Rupert Holmes, Frank Wildhorn and more. The performance will end with Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Priest" from the musical "Sweeney Todd."
