EAU CLAIRE — Five members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team traveled to Bloomington, Minn., to compete in the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament No. 1, hosted by Normandale Community College on Oct. 12. The team took first place in several individual events and placed second overall.
For many of the students, this was their first tournament of the year.
Junior Rachel Mayasich, St. Cloud, Minn., placed first in extemporaneous speaking, qualifying her to participate in the National Forensics Association Tournament.
Sophomore Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, placed first in impromptu speaking.
Junior Betsy Schroeder, LeCenter, Minn., placed second in after-dinner speaking.
Senior Dan Mc Neely, Bloomington, Minn., placed second in communication analysis and third in prose interpretation.
Junior Bonnie Maczka, Lino Lakes, Minn., placed fourth in program oral interpretation. Maczka also placed fourth in prose interpretation, qualifying her to participate in the NFA Tournament.
Next up, the UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team will travel to Mankato, Minn. to the Minnesota River Swing Tournament.
