Election to Be First Focus of UW-Eau Claire
Alumni Association Speaker Series

EAU CLAIRE — "Blue States vs. Red States: The 2004 Elections" will be the topic of the first session of a new noon-hour speaker series hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from noon to 1 p.m. at Sweetwaters Restaurant.

The first speaker of the "Let's Do Lunch" series will be Rodd Freitag, Ph.D., UW-Eau Claire associate professor of political science, who will discuss the major issues driving the national, state and local political races this year.

"This speaker series is a wonderful opportunity for engaged citizens to join an interactive discussion with members of the UW-Eau Claire faculty and benefit from their expertise," said John Bachmeier, director of alumni relations.

Other "Let's Do Lunch" speakers, dates and topics include Karl Markgraf, Ph.D., director of international education, Nov. 24, "International Education: Changing Places Changes Minds"; Harry Jol, Ph.D., associate professor of geography and anthropology, Dec. 29, "Geoarchaeological Adventures in the Holy Land"; and Charles Tomkovick, Ph.D., professor of management and marketing, Jan. 26, addressing "Super Bowl Advertising Effectiveness…At Work While You Play."

The speaker series is open to the public. The cost is $10 per session and includes the presentation, buffet, beverage, tax and tip.
