EAU CLAIRE — In celebration of Hispanic/Latino month, the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will hold a "Dialogue on Diversity" at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Alumni Room of Davies Center.
"Hispanic Women on Campus: Living and Learning Diversity" will include a video presentation and panel discussion and offer the opportunity to participate in a lively discussion on the status of Hispanic women in the United States, the Chippewa Valley and on the UW-Eau Claire campus.
The video, "The Status of Latina Women," looks at the differences between the U.S. Latina and her Latin American counterparts. It examines how Latino men regard successful Latina women and the myths and mystique of machismo.
Stephanie Zighelboim, student services coordinator for the Office of Multicultural Affairs, will be the moderator for the discussion. Panelists will include Lina Castellanos, Luz Bibiana Fuentes, and Dr. Eva Santos-Phillips, all of whom teach in UW-Eau Claire's department of foreign languages and the Latin American Studies Program.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
