EAU CLAIRE — Jayne Bielecki has been appointed to the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services' Public Health Council, which was created as part of Wisconsin Act 186, passed April 7, 2004.
Bielecki has been a clinical instructor in the family health nursing department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire since 2001.
The council, which meets four times a year, advises the DHFS, the governor, the legislature and the public on progress in implementing DHFS's 10-year public health plan and coordination of responses to public health emergencies. This is a three-year appointment.
"Jayne is an excellent person to serve on the Public Health Council," said Dr. L. Elaine Wendt, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UW-Eau Claire. "Her education and experience in public health, along with her interpersonal skills, make her a logical choice to work with the council in moving the DHFS's 10-year health plan forward."
The 23-member council includes health care consumers and health professions educators as well as representatives from health care providers, local health departments and boards, public safety agencies and the public health advisory committee established by the secretary of DHFS.
Bielecki earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from UW-Madison and a master of public health degree from Tulane University. Bielecki is currently enrolled in the master of science in nursing program at UW-Eau Claire.
