EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire recently kicked off a campaign to encourage the use of alternate forms of transportation and raise awareness of parking issues on and around campus.
The campaign, utilizing ads in The Spectator, UW-Eau Claire’s student newspaper; bus billboards on the city buses that serve the campus area; and posters and table tents, delivers light-hearted retro-themed messages about alternate transportation and parking etiquette. The campaign is centered on three themes:
The awareness campaign is intended to help bring more order to parking and transportation in the university vicinity and was one of the initiatives proposed by the university to the Eau Claire City Council in response to concerns voiced earlier this year by some residents of the Third Ward.
University, neighborhood and city representatives participated in a series of meetings during the summer to identify parking and transportation issues and explore possible solutions. A report was presented to City Council at its Aug. 23 meeting.
For more information about the parking and transportation campaign, contact Mike Rindo, executive director of University Communications, at (715) 836-4742.
