EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Information and Technology Management Online Help Collection has been selected to be among those providing this year's benchmarks at the Association for Computing Machinery, Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services Conference in Baltimore, Md. UW-Eau Claire's collection has been awarded third place in the category of Electronic How-to Guides.
The Computing and Networking Services' documentation team, which includes student writers supervised by technology coach Jeri Weiser, is responsible for writing and maintaining the documents in the collection.
Students that made up the team at the time of the award submittal included Caleb M. Olson, Chippewa Falls; spring 2004 graduates Asia Brandvold, Eau Claire, Robert Meixner, Mondovi, and Michael Paul, La Crosse; as well as returning seniors Ashley Vasas, Hayward, and Aaron Moscho, St. Cloud, Minn.; and graduate student Jenny Chen, Eau Claire.
The ITM Online Help Documents are a resource for faculty, staff and students working with campus-supported software. According to Weiser, the CNS documentation team has consisted of outstanding students, many from Eau Claire's English Technical Writing program, and over the past few years people from around the United States and other countries have asked permission to use these documents.
"This award is an acknowledgement of the quality of our work, and we feel very honored to receive it," said Weiser.
The official presentation of the award will be made at the conference awards breakfast on Oct. 12 in Baltimore.
