47th Annual Career Conference
Set for Oct. 7 at UW-Eau Claire

 MAILED:  Sept. 29, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s 47th annual Career Conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in Zorn Arena.

The conference is a great opportunity for students and faculty members to meet with more than 125 prospective employers, graduate schools and state and federal agencies.

Students and faculty members also will have a chance to meet these employers in a more casual setting at a Pre-conference Reception sponsored by the Student Accounting Society. The reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Plaza Hotel. Dress is business formal.

"The career conference is a valuable networking tool for students," said junior Kristy Jazdzewski, a member of the Beta Upsilon Sigma's conference organizing committee. "Where else can they meet, exchange resumes and discuss job opportunities with over 100 employers all in the same room."

The majority of the companies will be from Minnesota and Wisconsin, but there will be others from the surrounding regions. Employers will not only be looking for potential employees, but also will be advising students on what types of skills, abilities and experience they look for and value in their employees.

Jazdewski said first and second year students also are encouraged to check out the conference and ask employers questions; the experience can help increase their confidence when they're looking for jobs as juniors or seniors.

Beta Upsilon Sigma and Career Services are sponsoring the Career Conference. For more information, e-mail
