EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Oct. 4. All events are free and open to the public.
Sunday, Oct. 10:
- Professor of music Paul Kosower will present a faculty organ recital at 2 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Kosower has performed in concerts throughout the United States and parts of Europe and has appeared as a soloist with many symphony orchestras. The first half of the program will begin with Toccata in F Major by J.S. Bach and continue with works by Marcel Dupre, Louis Vierne, Emma Lou Diemer, Jehan Alain, Herbert Howells and Alexandre Guilmant. The program will conclude with the piece Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H by Franz Liszt.
- Dr. Verle Ormsby, Jr., senior lecturer in the music department, will present a faculty french horn recital at 4 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Ormsby has been on several university music faculties throughout the United States and is currently a member of various music groups, including the Wisconsin Woodwind Quintet, a faculty ensemble; the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra; and the Northwinds British Brass Band. The program will begin with Eugéne Bozza's "En Forêt," followed by works from Lev Kogan and Richard Cioffari. The second half will start with Concerto in d minor by Benedetto Marcello, translated by Ormsby, and conclude with "Fantasie" Op. 13 by C.D. Lorenz. Beverly Soll will provide piano accompaniment.
