Staff and Faculty Panel Discussion
Will Discuss Diversity in the Classroom
EAU CLAIRE — A Diversity Committee faculty and academic staff development panel discussion will be held 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, in the Hibbard Penthouse for faculty and staff members.
"Locating Diversity in the Classroom" will include panel speakers Lori Rowlett, associate professor of philosophy and religious studies, Donald Mowry, director of the Center for Service-Learning, and Patti See and Arthur Lyons, both senior student services coordinators for the Academic Skills Center.
This panel discussion is a follow up to the Aug. 30 faculty and academic staff development opening seminar, "Rethinking Diversity: A Confluence of Teaching and Learning," and will address the challenges involved in locating diversity within the classroom. The panel also will discuss how to create a safe classroom while encouraging the exploration of diversity through course content and teaching strategies.
Future panel discussions will include "Fostering Diversity in the Classroom" Oct. 27 and "Multicultural Pedagogy" Feb. 27, 2005.
