UW-Eau Claire Nursing to Offer
Free Health Exams for Children

 MAILED:  Sept. 14, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire department of family health nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences will offer free health evaluation clinics for infants and children through age 15 on Sept. 20.

Health evaluations will begin at 4 p.m. at the Nursing Building. Clinics will include a physical assessment, developmental screening, nutrition assessment, vision and hearing screening, and a review of the child’s health history.

Nursing graduate students will conduct the clinics under the supervision of nurse practitioners. Supervisors will be available to sign physical examination forms for preschool, day care, kindergarten or camp.

Students may follow the clinics with home visits in order to provide a summary of clinic findings and provide information on health and development topics of interest to families.

To create a positive health care experience, the clinics are paced to allow time for explanation of procedures to the child. Participants should allow two hours for a complete screening assessment.

A limited number of appointments are available. Call (715) 836-5515 for more information or to make an appointment.
