Mike Gilboy, a May 2004 graduate from UW-Eau Claire and an Eau Claire native, is working for the American Red Cross through the AmeriCorps program in the Ft. Myers area of Florida. Mike arrived there the Monday before Hurricane Charley hit.

His mother, Joanie Gilboy, works in UW-Eau Claire's office of records and registration. She said her son's duties relating to the Hurricane clean up efforts have ranged from helping set up shelters to answering phones.

Mike Gilboy was in Michigan this week for more training. He will then return to Florida.
