Win Fellowship Awards and Scholarships

 MAILED:  July 23, 2004

EAU CLAIRE - Four students set to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this fall have received Blugold Fellowship Awards and Chancellor's Scholarships.

Emily Cooper, Germantown, Sarah Hoepner, Hayward, McKinley Lukes, Madison, and Katherine Schultz, Coon Rapids, Minn., all received both prestigious awards. Sixteen other students also received Blugold Fellowships and 80 other students also received Chancellor's Scholarships.

Blugold Fellowships are given annually to up to 20 incoming freshmen based on academic record, national test scores, an essay, and school and community leadership and service. The fellowship provides an opportunity to do research with or serve as an assistant to faculty. In addition, each recipient will receive a scholarship and a stipend. The funds, administered through the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, are renewable for a second year.

Chancellor's Scholarships are given to incoming freshmen who rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating classes and score well on ACT or SAT tests.

Cooper is a graduate of Germantown High School and the daughter of Gary and Mary Cooper. Hoepner is a graduate of Hayward High School and the daughter of Allen and Linda Hoepner. She plans to major in English.

Lukes is a graduate of West High School and the son of Shirwil and Stephen Lukes.

Schultz is a graduate of Totino-Grace High School and the daughter of Clyde and Mary Beth Schultz. She plans to major in music.
