Jazz Camp and Concerts to Begin
At Indianhead Arts and Education Center

 MAILED:  June 18, 2004

EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Indianhead Arts & Education Center will kick off its first of three weeks of Jazz Band Camp on June 20. Each week a new group of students from around the Midwest will fill the Shell Lake area with great music and fun, working with locally and nationally known musicians and listening to great concerts. Each week there will be a number of concerts and recitals featuring the UW-Eau Claire/IAEC faculty as well as some of the students attending camp.

Final Jazz Camp Concerts will be held in the IAEC auditorium (802 1st Street, Shell Lake) at 7 p.m. each Friday, June 25, July 2 and July 9. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and will be available at the door.

Established in 1968 through a cooperative effort between UW-Extension and a local citizen board, the IAEC in Shell Lake is home to the nation's oldest continuous jazz camp. The Center philosophy is that every student should have the opportunity to work with a master teacher. The nine weeks of summer programs offer many opportunities for growth, with programs for both students and adults. The IAEC also hosts a variety of academic year offerings. The Center is currently run in partnership with UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education.
