Senior Joshua Hertel Awarded
UW-Eau Claire Classified Staff Scholarship

 MAILED:  June 10, 2004

EAU CLAIRE - University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire senior Joshua Hertel, Denmark, was recently awarded a $500 Classified Staff Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship, which is funded by donations from permanent classified and administrative staff, must be nominated by staff members and be full-time students with at least a 2.0 grade-point average. This is the second year that this scholarship was awarded.

Hertel, who will graduate in May 2005, has a double education major in music and mathematics. Following graduation, he plans to teach in Wisconsin for three to five years and then pursue a master's degree.

David Grabowski of UW-Eau Claire's Teaching and Learning Technology Development Center nominated Hertel on behalf of the TLTDC staff. Grabowski said that Hertel's performance as a student worker at the TLTDC "has been nothing short of stellar." Hertel said he is very grateful to the staff for nominating him for the award.

"Working at the TLTDC for the past several years has been an enjoyable and educational experience which I feel has benefited me greatly in my undergraduate career," Hertel said. "I've been able to meet and work with compassionate and caring people who have not only supported me, but also broadened my viewpoints and challenged my ideas."

Chancellor Mash will introduce Hertel and present him with his scholarship at the classified staff meeting that opens the fall 2004 semester.
