UW-Eau Claire English professor John Hildebrand and local author Mike Perry will read from their published work during a literary event at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at the Acoustic Café in downtown Eau Claire. Perry, a graduate of UW-Eau Claire, was one of Hildebrand's students. This will be the first time the two have shared a stage. Perry's most recent book is "Population 485." Hildebrand, a contributor to Harper's magazine, is the author of the books "Mapping the Farm" and "Reading the River." The reading will be followed by music from "The Town of Sampson," which features Perry, Brad and Phil Cook, and Billy Krause.

A number of UW-Eau Claire alumni living in the Chippewa Valley will attend the Alumni Association's Spring Fling at the Leinie Lodge in Chippewa Falls. The event will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2. It will include a tour of the brewing company and an update about UW-Eau Claire. Calendar Note

UW-Eau Claire's three-week Summer Session is continuing this week. The session will end Friday, June 11. The eight-week Summer Session will then run from Monday, June 14, through Friday, Aug. 6.
