UW-Eau Claire Student Senate Encourages
Students to Donate Instead of Dump

 MAILED:  May 20, 2004

EAU CLAIRE - The Student Senate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is sponsoring its fourth annual "Don't Dump It, Donate It" campaign to encourage university students who are graduating or moving out of their apartments for the summer to donate used clothes, household items and usable furniture to Goodwill Industries rather than simply sending these items to the curb.

Donations of non-perishable and unopened boxed or canned food also will be accepted for distribution to local food pantries.

All items can be dropped off at the university's Water Street parking lot on the corner of Second Ave. and Water St. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, May 21, and Friday, May 28.

For possible assistance hauling large items, call the Eau Claire City-County Health Department at 839-4718 before May 21.

The "Don't Dump It, Donate It" campaign is a cooperative effort of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate, the UW-Eau Claire National Environmental Health Association, City-County Health Department, City of Eau Claire, UW-Eau Claire Parking and Transportation Service Office, Goodwill Industries, the Chippewa Valley Apartment Association and the Third Ward and Historic Randall Park Neighborhood Associations.
