Winners of Viennese Ball Scholarships
And Study Awards Announced

EAU CLAIRE — Thirteen University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students were honored with scholarships or study awards at the university’s Viennese Ball 2004.

Four Viennese Ball International Scholarships were awarded.

Two students received Wilhelm & Ingrid Brauner Awards given in recognition of the services of the couple from the Austrian government who significantly contributed to the development of the Viennese Ball. Kathryn Lance, Wales, is a German and French education major and the daughter of Lynn and James Lance. Jaclyn Skrivseth, Appleton, is a German major and the daughter of Kathy and Craig Skrivseth.

Two foreign exchange students also received International Scholarships. Johanna Feier is an English and communication and journalism major. She is from Leibnitz, Austria, and is the daughter of Gabriela and Hillibald Feier. Her host family is Paul Hiegner and Sue Peterson. Bettina Urferer is an English major and history minor. She is from Braunau, Austria, and is the daughter of Wilhelm and Susanne Urferer. Her host family is Bob and Sue Janke.

Six students received the Viennese Ball Senior Music Scholarships, awarded for talent, academic achievement and contributions to the department of music and theatre arts. Nathan Abuan, Shoreview Minn., is a music education major and the son of Fred and Mary Abuan. Jeremy Boettcher, Eau Claire, is a music education major. He is the son of Jerry and Sue Anne Boettcher. Christina Burgess, Wausau, is a choral music education major. She is is the daughter of Karl and Carol Burgess. Amanda Depons, New Berlin, is a music major with an emphasis in voice. She is the daughter of Sandra and Gordon Depons. Kelli Hanson, Duluth, Minn., is a music major in applied instrumental. She is the daughter of David and Elizabeth Hanson. Joseph Hartson, Oconomowoc, is a music education major. He is the son of Starr and Dianne Hartson.

Kristin Yost, Sisseton, S.D., a music major with a topical minor in piano pedagogy, received the Ada Bors Music Service Award. She is the daughter of Edward and Melanie Yost. This award, named for the staff member who originated and coordinated the Viennese Ball for 25 years, recognizes outstanding service to the department of music and theatre arts.

Two students received W.R. Davies University Center Service Awards for the Viennese Ball, which recognizes outstanding service to Davies Center and past service to the Viennese Ball. Eric Ketchum, Utica, Minn., is a marketing major and an organizational communication minor. He is the son of Bob and Terri Ketchum. April Pufahl, Fox Lake, is a psychology major and is the daughter of Dennis and Joy Pufahl.
