EAU CLAIRE — The annual Chippewa Valley Astronomy Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. All events are free, open to the public and will take place on the first floor of Phillips Science Hall or outside the north doors.
The event will interest people of all ages and will include planetarium shows, safe sunspot viewing, spectroscopic views of sunlight, astrophotography displays and telescopes. Presentations will cover topics including the current arrival of the Cassini spacecraft at Saturn, the recent Mars exploration and the recent discovery of the largest solar system object since Pluto. Participants can pick up star maps and space information and see a scale model of the Mars Exploration Rover.
