UW-Eau Claire Wind Symphony
To Perform May 2

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Wind Symphony will present its final concert of the academic year at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Under the direction of Dr. Richard Mark Heidel, assistant professor of music, the concert will begin with “Overture to Colas Breugnon” by Dmitri Kabalevsky, and continue with “Symphony in B-flat” by Paul Hindemith and “Easter Monday on the White House Lawn” by John Philip Sousa.

The second half of the concert will open with “Jubilee” by Michael Hennagin, with Dr. Phillip Ostrander, assistant professor of music, as guest conductor, and continue with “Amazing Grace” by Frank Ticheli, with senior Jeffery Specht, Arden Hills, Minn., as guest conductor; “Carmen Fantaisie” by Francois Borne, featuring junior Kara Sorensen, Duluth, Minn., on flute; and “Polka and Fugue from Schwanda, the Bagpiper” by Jaromir Weinberger, featuring Paul Kosower, professor of music, on the organ.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.
