Research Day/Projects of Interest

A number of UW-Eau Claire nursing faculty and students
will present information about their research during the annual Nursing Research
Day Friday, April 23. The following projects, topics and presentations may be
of particular interest to reporters who cover health care topics.
- “The Evidence Base for End-of-Life
Care,” keynote address by Karin T. Kirchhoff, a UW-Madison professor
of nursing and world-class researcher on patient outcomes. The presentation
will begin at 9:10 a.m. in Davies Theatre.
- “Family Issues with Midlife
Women Diagnosed with Breast Cancer,” by Susan Moch, professor
of family health nursing, and Nancy Goldberg. The poster presentation will
run from 10:30-11:10 a.m. in the Skylight Lounge
of Davies Center.
- “Restorative Activities
and Attentional Demands and Their Influence on Well-being among Community-Dwelling
Elders,” by Debra Jansen, associate professor of adult health
nursing. The poster presentation will run from 10:30-11:10
a.m. in the Skylight Lounge of Davies Center.
- “Transition to Professional
Practice: Reflections of Senior Nursing Students,” by Mary Thelen,
nursing graduate student; Cathy Cooper, assistant professor of nursing systems;
and Lois Taft, associate professor of nursing systems. The presentation will
be from 11:15-11:55 a.m. in Room 104 of the Nursing
Building.
- “Moving Toward a Healthier
Work Environment,” by Dennis Roth, special student. The presentation
will be from 1:10-1:50 p.m. in Room 104 of the Nursing
Building.
- “Director of Nursing in
the Nursing Home: Complexities and Rewards,” by Mary Zwygart-Stauffacher,
professor of nursing systems; Doug Olson, assistant professor of allied health
professions; Laura Weiss, health care administration major; and nurse Greg
Myer. The presentation will be from 1:55-2:35 p.m.
in Room 227 of the Nursing Building.
