EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Vocal Jazz Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, in the Riverside Theater, Haas Fine Arts Center.
The ensemble is directed by Daniel Newman, assistant professor of music. The five-member group tours in the spring throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota to perform at various high schools. Their repertoire consists of vocal jazz charts and jazz arrangements of pop tunes.
Members of the group are Carrie Bruce, a junior music major from Wind Lake; Maria Gerges, a freshman political science major from Sheboygan Falls; sophomore Julie Koeller, a music major from Appleton; freshman Brett Mueller, a music major from Madison; and freshman Adam Rubach, an undeclared major from Waterford.
The ensemble will perform “Ray’s Rock House,” arranged by Steve Zegree; “A Night In Tunisia,” arranged by Sharon Broadly; “Rockin’ Chair” and “All the Things You Are,” arranged by Gene Puerling; “Misty,” arranged by Russ Robinson; “Waltz for Debby,” arranged by Peder Karlsson; “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” arranged by Anne Raugh and Deke Sharon; “Desanfinado,” arranged by Phil Mattson; “On Broadway,” arranged by Gary Rosen; and “Birdland” by Weather Report.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $3.75 for adults; $2.75 for those age 62 and older, children 17 and younger, and faculty or staff with a university ID; or free for students with a university ID.
