At Three-Day Festival at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s
New Playwrights Festival will take place at 4 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28,
through Friday, April 30, at Riverside Theatre in the Haas Fines Arts Center.
The student-written plays are short and have been clustered
into two different groups. Each group of plays will be performed once during
the three different days.
The following plays, in Group A, will be performed at
8 p.m. Thursday and at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday:
- “The Last Sunday of the Month,” a one-act
play, was written by junior Sara Kostreva, Oconto Falls, and directed by senior
Kelly Mariska, Maple Grove, Minn.
- “Group” was written by junior Paul M.
Bleier, Wautoma, and directed by senior Aaron Zook, Eau Claire.
- “Marking Time” was written by senior Nancy
Jo Giles, Eau Claire, and directed by Mariska.
- “The Trouble with Billy” was written by
senior Micaela Linder, Luck, and directed by Zook.
- “Avalon,” a monodrama, was written by
senior Bethany Lauterbach, De Pere, and directed by senior Anna Figlesthaler,
Fox Point.
- “Bonco Pets,” a monodrama, was written
by senior Brian Johnson, Faribualt, Minn., and directed by Zook.
- “Reviving the Child” was written by junior
Bria Fraundorf, Antigo, and directed by Figlesthaler.
The following plays, in Group B, will be performed at
4 p.m. Thursday and at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday:
- “Tongue Lashing,” a ten-minute play, was
written by senior Kristine Heidke, Neenah, and directed by senior Kathy Andersen,
Watertown.
- “Throw-Aways” was written by junior Briana
Hardyman, Darlington, and directed by senior Brian Benson, Rhinelander.
- “Gary Larson, Jim Davis and Why I Can’t
Draw,” a one-act play, was written by sophomore Mark Saienga, Lakeville,
Minn., and directed by Andersen.
- “Rats and Crackers” was written by junior
Daniel Largent, Mondovi, and directed by Johnson.
- “Betrayal” was written by senior Beth
Peterson, Appleton, and directed by senior Eric Traxler, Eau Claire.
- “Small-Time Kings” was written by senior
Paul Barnes, Little Falls, Minn., and directed by Johnson.
- “Football & Pyrrhonism” was written
by Andersen and directed by Traxler.
Tickets are available for $2 at the University Service
Center, (715) 836-3727, and will be sold at the door.
