EAU CLAIRE — Dan Barker, a former preacher and Christian songwriter, will be telling his story at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a talk titled “Losing Faith in Faith: From Preacher to Atheist” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the Schofield Auditorium.
Barker will speak about his gradual switch from preacher to one of the most influential activists for free thought, atheism, secular humanism and the separation of church and state. He will speak about his process, experiences and play a few composed piano tunes.
Barker is an author, songwriter and the public relations director of Freedom From Religion Foundation, Inc. which is based in Madison. He has appeared in many religious debates and on national talk shows such as “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Good Morning America.”
Admission is free and open to students, faculty and staff, and the community. The event is sponsored by the College Freethought Society and its affiliated organizations — the Progressive Student Association and the Secular Student Alliance.
